    Default First Shave!

Well, finally had my first SE shave today. I have to say, overall it went pretty well! I originally intended to just do my right cheek, but ended up doing the entire face WTG. It was an awkward experience, to say the least. The hand positions and motions arent in muscle memory yet and there were a few times where I probably let my shave angle get too shallow. And the chin was just a nightmare to do! Overall, I didn't get nearly as close a shave as I would like, but closeness will come with time. I also didn't nick myself a single time! Right now, my biggest concern is if I stropped my razor properly after I shaved or not.

Watch afdavis's video on stropping, it should help you get an idea of proper technique. Also keep in mind that speed does not matter, just concentrate on technique and you will start to get faster as the motion becomes familiar.

Congratulations. You could've started more slowly and tackle the chin later, but that's what I did too. You'll know soon enough if you stropped well or not. It's all learned skills though, so be persistent and you'll get there one way or another.

Great first shave. No harm using what you used before to clean up the rest of the shave and just build on the Straight Shave one step at a time. Looking back, the learning curve period was a lot of fun and adventurous.
