Thanked: 8Proraso Preshave Cream
I just had to pay tribute to this amazing product. I've been straight razor shaving for like two months and I've loved it since the beginning and although I've had trouble here and there, over all the results compared to disposables have been better and definitely the experience is better. Now just to put things in perspective, at least the results have been just marginally better which is good. So I've been getting just slightly better shaved (in closeness) and the sensitivity of my skin is such that I can actually shave every day no problem (big improvement) and the ritual side of it prep, building lather, stropping.... a joy.
So with this preshave cream the prep side is just a little bit better experience, but better which is good. Its in the results where this product shines. I haven't gotten so comfortable with straight razor shaving that I shave ATG yet. Usually its one pass, sometimes two, usually WTG sometimes XTG. So I shaved with this preshave cream and shaved WTG two passes and I have to say I nearly got a ATG type result. AMAZING!!!
The shave was a joy, even less irritating than straight without preshave, which is already less irritating than disposables. The menthol was a great feeling, I got a nice shine to my face afterwards. I just can't say enough about this product. It like transforms my face to better except the straight razor for shaving. Its almost like before I would get something like a goose bump affect on my face more on my chin and the preshave just numbed that so it didn't appear and I could just cut really nice the hairs. And then before even with a really nice shave with no sensitivity issues, during the day the face was a little not sensitive but I don't know how to explain its just different, not like the feeling after many days of not shaving your face is completely malleable and free of any issues. With this preshave cream hours after none of that feeling, great. Also the results I got were without the benifit of a nice hot shower to really prep the whiskers and face.
If you have sensitive skin, and even if you don't the feeling it gives while shaving is enough to buy it. I'm between sensitive and not, so for sure if you have even a little sensitivity to your face, try this stuff out you'll see it works wonders.Last edited by Knife; 10-02-2011 at 07:54 PM.

Thanked: 8Well I see no one has replied so I guess either it wasn't a subject of interest or no one was familiar with the product to opine either way. If the latter is true, let me revise my previous statement so those who might be willing to try this out can have a good experience.
First of all, the shine I had talked about was actually from a AOS aftershave balm I got in a starter kit. I'd never tried it and after what I felt was my best shave I was so happy I felt like trying it out. The next day I figured the shine was from the preshave cream because the preshave cream can also be used as a post shave cream which I used, but then also used the balm, but after subsequent shaves and no balm, if found out the shine was from the balm.
Secondly, I've shaved three times since that first "with preshave cream" shave, and the first two after the first weren't as good. They was still better than without the preshave cream but not amazing like I had mentioned. Well again I looked back and it was a face scrub with these exfoliating beads, that I had used the first time before applying the preshave cream, that did the trick. I had used that face scrub before, before shaving with the preshave cream and it didn't give me this awesome shave. It looks like doing a good preshave face prep with preshave cream is the trick, because today when I used that face scrub again with the preshave cream, I had an even better shave than the first time with the preshave cream, but I also shaved WTG the first pass and XTG the second, something I hadn't done the first time and I was more diligent with my shaving.
So to summarize, I clean my face with Irish spring soap, then used Nivea preshave face scrub, then used the preshave cream, let it absorb, then applied lather and shave as usual, great shave, very happy.

I love it too!! I use it before as a Prep and after the shave before applaying AS. When using it after the shave it opens the pores and youll have less ingrowns. For me it works GREAT!!!
cheers

I find this cream better after shave than pre shave product. Nevertheless it is one of my favourite.

Yes, I use proraso preshave mainly because of the cool menthol feeling that it gives. I'm not sure that it works any better than Noxzema would . The cost is an issue, with it being 10x that of Noxzema .

Thanked: 146I absolutely love this stuff. When I first started I bought a sample and tried different preps and found this stuff to really make a difference in glide and closeness compared to AOS pre shave oil, or olive oil as a pre-shave. Gave some to my brother and he really likes it too!
