    Default lather machine

I went to Floyds and got a haircut today, before she cleaned up my neck with the SR, I noticed she got her lather forma a lather machine, and it felt wonderful and hot.

What does the community think about these machines?
    plus? minus?

    Thanks

Years ago I owned a "Lather King" which was used by pro barbers. While it does dispense hot lather, the stuff does not compare with what I can do with a brush, puck, and lather bowl. The machine needs to be plugged in to be brought up to temperature and the lather is sold in bulk either in powder, or in liquid. It is impractical as a home device and , as mentioned above, is inferior in density and texture to high quality soaps and creams. Just IMHO.

I think the Lather King is really cool......unfortunately, everything Jimmy pointed out is quite true.

Never knew about lather machines. Sounds impractical but very interesting!

I have one, that my barber is currently using while his gets repaired. Jimmy hit the nail on the head. Not only can you produce better lather with a brush, soap or cream; but the lather doesn't hold heat very long. They are cool though. Great for the back of your neck, but not ideal for your face.

The bottom line is they are designed for a shop where lather is dispensed on a continual basis throughout the day and you are looking for a product that gets the job done in a workmanship type of way. They are impractical for home use and from personal experience produce lather I would not want to use.
