Cool Lather, I did it right!!

So after playing with making lather these last two days going from too dry and adding water until the lather turns to soup, I have figured it out!!

I've gotten a great lather from my C.O. Bigelow (read: Proraso) cream and when I tried to replicate it, I did!

I was so happy I had a superfluous shave and now I cant stop running my hands over my BBS face. (ok, I used a disposable. But it was still a great shave!!)

I'm loving getting into this *hobby* and I'm looking forward to getting new soaps and creams and a real badger or boar brush.

Good to see your success in lathering
It sounds like on your way to learning the basics
Any thoughts of getting a DE or straight yet?

Funny how every step requires a little (or a lot) of practice. Good that you've tasted some lathering success! Stick with it. Great fun.

A good lather opens the door to a good shave. Enjoy!

Making lather is like everything else in this great pursuit, it requires some practice and will be a bit different for each of us. You have to just get a feel for it.

Congrats. Great lather will greatly improve your shaves. I practiced making lather 2-3 times a day for almost a month when I first started.

    Thanks guys!

And yes, I have and use a straight, a vintage Union Cutlery full hollow ground, I think its a 5/8 or even a 4/8. A very svelte little razor.

But I needed to clean up all the stubble so I could relax my face from daily shaving (still only HAVE to shave every other day at the most frequent) and I had gotten an urge to shave a lot in the previous days so my face was feeling it. I thought, just a quick couple of passes with the 5 blade. Lets use this AWESOME lather.

I never realized how irritating my disposables were until I went back to them today. It may be because my face was a little overworked, but the straight just leaves it feeling better if not actually smoother.

Still looking forward to my first Straight razor BBS shave, but until then, I'm in college. If I shave at all I am better groomed than most ;D

Also for the first time in a long time I have an idea of what I want for Christmas. Do we have any guessers in the audience??
Mad props to anyone who guesses right or suggests something truly "list"-worthy!

I love CO Bigelow cream, it's my favorite so far. Really great stuff and gives me an awesome shave. Haha I am in college too, I'm usually the best groomed person on campus!
