If the leather is in good condition, then use good old palm grease. Stretch the leather out with one hand and use the other hand to rub your palm on the leather strop.

What is the synthetic strop made of?

There is a difference in preparing lather from cream vs. soap. In terms of application, pretty much the same if you have a good lather.

You obviously have a top of the line strop, no conditioning should be needed. If you wish you can rub the leather with the palm of your hands using the oils of the skin as a conditioner/preservative. There is no need for pastes or sprays IMO.

Hi.You wont need paste on a strop until the blade goes dull and normal stropping wont refresh it..A second strop should be used for the paste.I use chrome oxide powder mixed with some light mineral oil on a homemade denim strop. Some folks use balsa wood with paste too.Remember to clean the blade off oil/paste before using your regular strop or it will get contaminated with the paste.
