Smile The zen of cuthroat , Act 3

What a great way to start my day ! My third shave has been the best so far. The most difficulty I had today was choosing which razor to use . As I am sure other nubees like myself have experienced, my love for straight razors has grown at an alarming pace. I have acquired a Dubl Duck Goldenedge , Fillarmonica #12 ,C-Mon Blackie , an Omega and Maximillan just finished restoring a Wade & butcher and there are a few more on the way . Needless to say I have a problem! So this morning when it came time to choose I debated for a while and decide the use of these other ones would come as a reward for becoming more proficient with my first love ...the Trusted TI. I did not regret my choice. To keep it brief my pre shave was just like the last two. I like this very much and have grown a custom to the ritual. This time I made no attempt at making an uber lather . I went with just shaving soap opting for the SRD sandalwood which I am now more fond of than there vanilla bourbon which was remarkable. agan the lather from there soap is thick rich and seems to comunicate with my razor in a language only they are privilege to. My first pass WTG was great ! Nearly BBS on its own in fact I made a second wtg pass and moved on to my jawline and neck the jaw was the only place I need to make an XTG pass and that went very well. While I was tempted to go at the whole thing again to be sure , I decided to quit while I was ahead. This was a lesson learned after the last shave.
Over all to days theme as it will be from now on is KIS Keep it simple!
As far as my new and costly addiction I will say this...It aint Crack! LOL! Good shaving to all!

    Thumbs up

Congratulations on a great shave and a great post. I love your enthusiasm.

There is nothing quite like a shave with a straight razor. I love using both straights and DE safety razors. I often use a straight for the first two passes and finish with DE for the final pass just for the enjoyment of it. One day this week, for the first time in months, I shaved totally with a DE. The shave was close, smooth, and comfortable. My face felt really nice. I was thinking, "Well, the DE was just as good as my straights." Then six hours later, I began to feel a little stubble poking it's way out on my face. My face was no longer smooth. With a good straight razor shave, it takes at least 12-15 hours before I start feeling stubble. I love the closeness of the straight razor shave!

[Before I get "flamed out" by all the DE fanatics, remember I love BOTH safety razors and straight razors! I am sure if I work hard at it, I probably could get just as close with a DE as I can with a straight. On this particular shave, I was using a Jagger DE89L, a razor I love, but it is pretty mild. That is why I just received a Muhle R41 and 30 Feather blades in the mail this week. I look forward to discovering their unique talents.]

Omega1975, I hope you continue to have fantastic shaves! Other Newbies should be greatly encouraged by your experiences.

    Happy Shaving!
