Thread: Finally!!!

I finally got to shave with a straight! And it is all thanks to Mvcrash for sending me a loaner until I get mine!

All I have to say is WOW! What a difference a quality razor makes! I have never been so nervous/excited for a first since....well.....you get the idea!

All went well, no nicks. Went ahead and did all WTG and some XTG as I really don't have much to shave. I keep a full beard, but it is shaped and well trimmed. Got BBS on the cheek area and of course much more practice will be required until I get there with the neck, especially on my left side.

I love how detailed you can get a beard line with a straight, you just can't get that with safety razors.

And it is not only the shave, it is the whole process that really is simply enjoyable. A place where a man can just get away and enjoy the simpler things in life...

I already can't wait for the second shave!!

Where has this been my whole life????

Oh, and a big thanks to everybody else who has interacted with my other posts, you all helped keep me motivated and encouraged.....thanks fellas!

Congrats on your first! It is quite an exhilarating experience, eh?

It is exhilarating! Never thought you could get such a sense of satisfaction out of something as simple as our morning shave.

I know see how this could become more than just a hobbie, but a love for the art of shaving.

That's what I keep telling people when they ask me "why do you bother with all that?". I tell them that it turned shaving from something I dreaded and avoided into something I like to do every day. You feel like you're taking care of yourself, you feel like you've accomplished something and the whole throwback thing is appealing, as well.

I have also always liked working with my hands and straight razor shaving gives ample opportunity, if you do it as a hobby, rather than a chore.

HaHa!! My face would look too round if I shaved my beard off!! I would have too much of a baby face....
