Default The zen of cuthroat , Act 5 - Me and my Mitch!

The Zen of cuthroat...the simplest of pleasure, the most satisfying ritual a true moment of clarity. For those of my fellow nubiees out there I would like to encourage you to continue this journey . You might have experienced a poor shave , a desire to return to the time saving fusion or mach 3 razors or possibly even lack the desire to commit to wet shaving. Before you hang your brush up remember...you owe this to yourself. A half our -45 min. with a mind clear of all things but your blade and the goal of a BBS shave. IMHO This benefits us as men physically ,mentally and spiritually .
Tonight I began my shave the same as all ways and as I had mentioned in my last post I planned to return to shaving with one of my SRD essential oil shave soaps. Earlier this week though I received a fresh puck of the highly regarded Mitchell's Wool Fat soap. I tried to resist but if you spend enough time on this site it is inevitable that you will give MWF a shot. I was not displeased.
While I am waiting for my Dirty Bird Scuttle I continue to use my Hart shaving mug. I have taken to bringing a kettle of boiling water into the bathroom with me for both my lather and for hot towels.
I began to lather up the MWF and I realized right away that it takes a bit more water and work to really get it going and at least for me it never turned into Thick and full lather like I have seen with the SRD soaps. I was prepared for this , I had read about it in some posts. Even so, the subtle aroma of the MWF matched with its silky smoothness was enough to make me continue. It brushed on smoothly but thinly and I was hesitant but I continued and tried to lather it up a bit more on my face. It pretty much stayed the same consistency so I put my brush down and picked up my newest razor a Thiers-Issard Sheffield "Silver Steel", 6/8" . Wow! with the first stroke of my blade I knew I had to adjust a bit . The MWF is soo smooth I had to approach the shave with an even lighter hand than normal. The result was my first genuinely BBS shave. It took 3 passes but it was wonderful . I Couldn't help but do the 3 passes because after each one I just wanted to brush on some more MWF and take another swipe.
I finished up with a warm towel , then a cool one a quick run with the septic stick over a couple tiny imperfections (so tiny I cant call em nics) and last a generous splash of witch hazel. This was my best shave to date. I am sold! Mitch is the man! As I take this journey we call wet shaving I, like you will try new soaps and razors and so on. I hope to find my perfect combination or combinations for that matter sooner rather than later. In the mean time I will definitely be adding MWF to the short list of great soaps that are a must try/ must have.
On that note, I bid you all good shaving!
P.S.- whats on your short list of great soaps or shaving creams?

    Hello.
I like Thiers-Issard soap. It is quite soft and effortless to do lather. It makes a good rich foam.
