I think with typical soaps I load the brush for at least 20 seconds. For MWF 30 or more.

All good advice thus far, but as an alternative to soap, maybe you should try a cream. Creams tend to lather much easier. I suggest this because I have hard water and it's more of an exercise in frustration trying to lather the soap. I made the switch to creams and it seems as if my problem was solved.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Thanked: 369I've used a brush and mug for over 30 years and have had no problems with lathering. But several months ago I decided that I was just tired of the extra time and mess (not much time and mess, but just extra) and started using canned shave cream (Barbasol, CVS house brand, etc.) Regardless of what anyone says about quality, environment, skin health, etc... the stuff just works and I'm perfectly happy with it.
Something to consider. YMMV

With scolding hot water, I can load up in 10 seconds, it seems to lather better as well. Of course by the time you put it on your face, its cooled down a bit
