    Default Best Shave yet!

It's been nearly two months shaving with a straight, Sunday through Thursday. I take the weekends off. Today was probably my best shave yet. No nicks, minimal irritation, and a smooth finish. ....Plus I smell good.

I did a quick face wash with Cetophil cleanser followed by some Proraso preshave and a hot towel for a minute. Then I whipped up a wet bowl of Mitchell's Wool Fat soap and went to work with my Edelweiss razor--stropped up 60 strokes back and forth. I stayed mostly with-the-grain, but touched up a few spots cross-grain.

Finished off with an alum block rub down, some homemade lotion (Witchhazel, glycerin, sunflower oil, and jojoba oil), and a splash of Speik aftershave.

I feel like a new man and...got the wife's seal of approval. Fantastic!

I'm very encouraged by my progress to date and shaving seems to have become a highlight of my day.

    Thanks for the support guys!

Congrats ! You've mastered the basics , and are now on the road to developing a finely tuned technique . I remember when I was 2-3 months in , I threw my Mach 3 in the trash .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

    Bravo, Nix.

It would seem you've got it, and as others say - better shaves in the future is a certainty. Years from now, you'll still get the occassional shave that looks and feels special and brings this exhillerating (sp) feeling. Enjoy each one of them.

Well, no sooner do I crow about my victories than the razor turns and teaches humility. Tough shave this evening: new cut, small nick, opened an old cut, tore up the skin under my chin, bit of razor burn on the neck. Still have some stubble on the chin. Tisk, tisk.

Added a touch of lanolin to my Trufitt and Hill cream and got a good lather, but it broke down quickly. Prep was a bit hasty too. All around bad shave. Suspect it's time to take the razor to the hone and spend a bit more time on the prep.
