Thanked: 0DOVO Bismarck
Hi all,
Me and some of my friends are looking to get into straight razor shaving. I've been looking around on this forum, as well as on the web, for the last few weeks, to find out what I'll need and what I want. By now I must've looked at a hundred razors, but I keep on getting back to the DOVO Bismarck. However, I haven't been able to find a reputable site which sells them pre-honed by a professional. Does anyone know whether they are still for sale, and if so, where?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanked: 0Yes, I've seen the site and was actually thinking of buying from it, but all of their Bismarcks are out of stock. I was wondering if anyone here knows of a place where they still have a few?

Have you checked out Vintage Blades. They had them last time I checked.

Thanked: 4Hi , Im also waiting to get into straight razor shaving with a Dovo, where are you from? This place sell the Bismark in the uk 100 - 150 . They do say the blades have been honed, but i have emailed them asking if they are factory honed or do they do them themselves. I am still awaiting a reply.
Hope this helps a little bit and if you do contact them and get a reply please share the reply.

Thanked: 0Thanks! Unfortunately the Vintage Blades site won't work for me as I live in the Netherlands. MoreWhisky, I'm going to browse that site for a bit. Could you let me know how they respond to your email?

The Bismark is a fine razor (comes in a few different varieties) and should be an excellent starter razor. For the good of the site community here, I would suggest first shopping one of the vendors that contributes by purchasing ad space on SRP. Also check the vendor's corner on the forum, as Dovo's are frequently listed there.
By and large, if you purchase from an SRP vendor, StraightRazorDesgins, Vintage Blades, or Classic Shaving and it says "shave ready", then rest assured it will be.

Thanked: 39I've got a Bismarck, and some other Dovos. It is a great shaver. You can definitely be sure of a shave ready razor from straight razor designs. I've bought a few razors from them. Every razor they sell is ready to shave right out of the box. And you get a free second sharpening, too.

I have a Bismarck that's not a Bismarck that I got at Superior Shave. The one with Ironwood scales. It is so nice that I want another one. I gather, from checking websites, that they've tweaked the cosmetics and scale mats, so there might be a lull in supply while new stock comes out.
