One Year On
I realized this AM that I have been shaving with a straight razor for a year now. I was shaving and and the thought occurred to me that I could do things and to get to places with the straight that I couldn't manage with a DE. That's not how it was in the beginning.
After about two weeks of very frustrating attempts I was ready to throw in the shaving towel. I reached the low point when I forgot that the blade will cut other things besides my face. I took a pass which included my ear lobe and suddenly was wondering where all the blood was coming from. The up side to a straight piece of honed steel is that it doesn't hurt very muchAnyway I was ready to quit and go back to less dangerous endeavors.
Fortunately I took a breather and reviewed a lot of posts on this forum encouraging beginners. It was all the encouragement that you guys have given over the years that convinced me to calm down and keep working at it.
I wanted to mark this date by thanking the members of this forum for your patience and sound advice. I know if you hadn't been here I would have quit. I imagine there are a lot of others in the same boat.
