Hello
Hi just like to say hello, I'm new to a straight razor, although I have been using a safety razor/Gillette sensor for over 20 years. Well it all started a couple of months ago when my wife and I did the weekly shop, when I needed new blades for the sensor ( cost £9.99 for 4 blades at tesco ) i was disgusted and walked away. I purchased some feather blades and I work near Geo Trumpers in Mayfair and popped in and purchased almond shave cream. Well since that time my skin has improved my shaves were very good in fact, what was a chore and a necessity has become something which I look forward to each morning. Since then I've decided to have a go at using a straight razor. I purchased a Ford and Medley from the invisible edge. I'm very pleased, I have been using the razor for about a month had about 10 shaves, had a few cuts, but nothing drastic. I really enjoy the experience and challenge.

Well, you've survived so far. Welcome to the Forum, and I hope you'll have accelerating success.

Yes, as ace wrote, you've survived so far. I'd get myself a styptic pencil or something of that ilk; it really helps to stop the bleeding should something minor occur.
Just a few words of fair warning, I got into straight razor shaving to save money, too. It has since backfired; so many toys, so little time.
Welcome to SRP.Last edited by markdfhr; 11-29-2011 at 07:06 PM. Reason: I used more than one word to give my fair warning.

Westminster, welcome and congrats. The shaves get alot better and remain enjoyable. Have some fun while learning. It'll be good to hear from you more.
