    Default Chritmas comes early

My new Dovo 6/8 Best Quality and 2" SRD Red altigo stop arrived today. *happy dance*

thanks to Lynn for super-fast shipping!

Can I ask how I use the strop? It has a webbing 'secondary' strop. I take it I use this like I have seen on videos where people strop on linen - I give it a dozen or so laps on the webbing, and then 50 on the leather???

    thanks

    Barry

SRD has great products, very fast shipping, and great customer service. I do 20 laps on the secondary strop then 40 or 50 on the leather.

What are the benefits to the linen strop? Is it required? I just got a "Sight unseen" kit from Larry with the poormans strop, do I need to pick up a linen?

You don't have to, but I would recommend it. It is said that the secondary strop heats up the metal which makes it easier to use the leather strop.

The linen can be helpful, but it can be a bit aggressive on blades if your technique is not quite up to snuff. I'm mainly sticking with plain leather these days.
