So do you have any suggestions? I use the following method when shaving the mustache area: first pass with the grain, second pass across the grain, third pass light across the grain (shaving the upper half of the whiskers), finally normal against the grain. I rarely nick myself on the mustache area using the above method. I always use light pressure and hold the blade with both hands when shaving XTG, and ATG.

Thanked: 24Ace has it dead on !....................The angle constantly changes and you have to reciprocate with the razor around the curvature of your chin.

Thanked: 2I will continue my work on the mustache area. Though I can't fully shave the upper lip yet, I have gotten started and am making progress. I don't have enough experience to give any suggestions on the chin but one of the guys did post some really helpful 'divide and conquer' chin techniques on the first page of this thread.

Thanked: 146I found that with the grain and across the grain was good enough in the mustache area for the first 2 months. Then I got brave and went lightly Against the grain and Voila! BBS everywhere, but it takes a firm hand and a light stroke.

Thanked: 2Yea I know I can do it, I'm just being overly cautious because I like my upper lip. I'll keep at it.

Thanked: 2Fantastic shave on Saturday. Great progress on the chin area. Seems like some extra time and extra stropping were helpful.
