    Default My small material contribution

I decided to give away one 9/16 Sprock, honed and shave-ready. It's only for members who joined on or before October 2nd, 2006 and who do not have a razor in their rotation but want to try. I am waiting for another razor to come in before I take the new arrivals to the hones. I cleaned it up and gave it a satin-finish. There is still some barely noticeable pitting on the blade/tang and scuffing of the scales. I'll give the blade and the scales bit more polish. It ain't much, but it should give some pretty good shaves once I hone it up and it's all I can afford.

    Any takers?

P.S. PM me if you think you deserve special consideration (I MAY consider people who joined in on the 3rd or who have an e-bay junker but can't hone it right etc.)
P.P.S. The white residue on the scales is the CLR metal polish. I forgot to rinse the blade before the photo shoot and it was getting dark lol.

The generosity of the members on this site truly make me humble, maybee I've been wrong about the majority of the human race after all

It's not often you meet people willing to help, guide and instruct others in this buisy world. Perhaps the diference here is that we all appreciate the older and finer things in life

Ilija is putting me and many others to shame. While we scour the web and antique stores trying to get the next great deal / killer shaver, or dream about a Maestro, he is investing his time and resources helping newbs (and let me say I don't know his situation, but am sure there are others here who have more of both)

I'd like to join him in his effort. I cannot restore razors, and have no tools, etc. I cannot hone as well as he can. What I can do, and offer to do, is to give him one of my razors. It's not going to be a piece of junk, but it will have come from ebay, and might need some Dremmel, as well as a touch up on the hones

Ilija, PM me if you find a second person, who deserves such a giveaway - I'll discuss with you some options about what I can contribute.

Nah, you're not wrong. The majority of the human race still sucks. You just found a place where a lot of the remaining good ones hang out.

What a nice gesture. I went through 4 paki's before I even knew what shave ready meant. This is such a good offer, Just to get a shave ready straight razor, and then free to boot.

That's something that has impressed me here, too and I'm just a newbie.

I think that you need to go to the rural
areas to find nice people who are willing
    to help.

Large congested cities would have to
    create hostility in anyone. IMO
