Default the first cut is the deepest...

not really - but I DID cut myself for the first time today ten shaves in and no cuts til now - I was feeling confident and said to myself - be more cautious, and I slowed down and followed the basics of stretching the skin, watching angles and keeping a good lather, but...

I was trying to go XTG on my lower right jaw/ cheek and the lather was a bit dry and my angle was off and......

I am now the proud owner of a 1/4 long cut in my face.

AND I nicked my strop - twice !!! I have the SRD 'basic' 2" latigo and attach it to a bathroom shelf - that is not attached to the wall - and when the stop was under tension and I was stropping, the shelf slipped forward. Nick #1. I pushed it back, and tried to finish and....it moved again. Nick #2.

Both are on the edge and are small flaps - figure I'll just trim them off and sand them smooth..

    *sigh*

It happens to the best of us . Dont be discouraged . You will heal, your strop can be fixed. Lesson learned. Keep having fun and good shaving!

Think we all have done it, i started earlie at age 4-5 with normal knives, almost even chopped of my long finger with a little meat cleaver at age 4 and my grandfather taught me to always have sharp knives so he helped me to keep them sharp so the knife dont make a mess when you cut yourself, and it heal better so it dont show as much. And think that apply to SR also. Just remember to not touch your face after nicking yourself cause that opend it up wide. Let it be and it might not even bleede. But worst feeling is Razor blades when cutting deep deep, that pounding of the heart aint fun thrue the night.

Well, you certainly won't be the first person to cut a strop or cut themselves. I got a cheap, but decent, strop to start with and then graduated to a better one when the cuts stopped. As for cutting yourself, try not to park the blade on your face. I found I cut myself when the blade stops moving and I'm thinking about what to do next. Since then I've learned to lift the blade off my face and wait for the next move.

Sorry to hear that bro, but it is inevitable. Show me one single wet shaver that hasn't done BOTH of those things mutliple times.

All that means is you are catching up with the rest of us, so WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!

    Later buddy,
