Hi Gareth.
If you haven't got it already, I totally recommend you order Lynn's DVD. It's a goldmine of essential information and worth every penny.

Welcome aboard, Gareth!
I'm just back myself after about a six month hiatus. You'll find we're generally a lovable bunch, if you avoid controversial topics (like anything involving shaving).
Have fun!

Gareth:
Allow me to add a hearty Welcome as well - one newbie to another! And I will also echo the comments of others - my start with a straight was a bit harrowing at first, but I'm sticking with it and really starting to get the hang of this new art form! And I've been rewarded with shaves that have never been closer. (Although it is admittedly a bit embarrassing how much time I now spend each day stroking my cheeks in disbelief with a stupid little childlike grin on my face...)
And I'll also add another strong buy recommendation for Lynn's DVD - it is truly a must have for those of us starting out.
Cheers, and enjoy your next shave... and the one after that... and the one after that. . . . . . .

Welcome Gareth
I really love to see new guys showing up all the time. Every time I hear that question I forgot to ask, I'm reminded of thing I neglected to think about so strangely enough I think it actually helps me to. Don't be shy about weighing in and keep an open mind. While it's true that the guys here will offer lots of advice and opinions, you'll get almost as many different ones as there are members. In the end you'll have to use all that to decide what works best for you.
