I'm not sure I'll need 100 shaves to gain proficiency, but I like the idea of blogging your shave experiences. Happy shaves!

Not that I have much (or any, actually :P ) experience with other razors, I do enjoy the shaves I get from my Dovo BQ. I hope you have the same experience with yours once it is properly honed!
I'm glad other people are able to get something out of my experiences, otherwise it would just be me keeping all the advice I get to myself!

So grad school really bit into my SRP updating time.... I can say however, that with this post I am at...
52nd Shave, over half-way there!
While I haven't been posting up any updates for 2 months now, I have been keeping track of my shaves and noting general trends in what I'm learning and what I could still use some work on. I have fallen into a pretty routine schedule of shaving now- Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (all at night). My skin doesn't handle daily shaving too well, and every other day seems to be at least tolerable. I've been trying to keep myself clean shaven through the work-week and I give my face a break from Friday to Sunday night. The aftershave lotion I use (a holdover from my mach3 days) is finally running out so I am going to shop around and try a few products. I'd like to find something that will give me the nice aftershave cooling without drying out my skin. I am intrigued by the tradition of old spice and bay rum aftershaves, so I may check them out first.
As far as shaving goes, I've acquired a second razor! A Dorko #14- it was a gift from my great uncle, and in fact it was his father's razor. (Pics here). I've had it honed and cleaned up, and shaved with it a number of times now. It was definitely a new experience and took some getting used to. It is a much larger razor than my 5/8 Dovo- the Dorko looks to be about 11/12. Some of my strokes needed readjusted also because it has a nearly square point that I needed to get used to. Having to adjust to a new razor was a great exercise in reviewing my technique, though!
I have also been talking at length about my love of the straight to a friend of mine who is now pretty interested in the idea himself. I've offered to let him try out a any of my gear if he likes. Who knows- maybe we will have a new member come into the fold before long!
