But I am a sick, sick man.
I think the sickness starts as soon as we even think of shaving with a straight razor and just gets bigger and bigger, kind of life my wifes frown when I start telling her of the next razor that I just have to have

    Hi Colin,

I can heartily recommend Tony's products, I bought my first razor and strop off him and they're superb. In fact I'm trying hard to resist ordering another strop off him at the moment!

Lynn's DVD is outstanding, especially for a beginner. I found it more useful than the 1 to 1 straight shaving lesson I had at Trumpers in London. You need to watch it a few times though as there's such a huge amount of information to absorb.

I can't comment on shavettes as I've never used one. But I'd say that if you're buying a straight razor it might be sensible to start with a round point rather than a spike like I did. I managed to get quite a few annoying cuts from the point, as it's so sharp.

Even though I still cut myself, and don't yet get a perfect shave every time. The enjoyment from performing a straight razor shave is just great, it's a super way to start your day.

    Cheers,

    Iwan

    Smile Welcome Colin

You're being given all the goods by the guys so there's little more I can say except that it's always good to have someone new around. I love hearing all the old questions I forgot that I used to ask requestioned again. Keeps me thinking straight (<pun). As for the obsession, I guess there's at least some truth to that. Anyone willing to put in this much efoort to a shave has the payoff of learning a lot about how a shave actually works and that is infectious. Good luck dealing with the virus.

    Hey guys.

My Kent shaving soap in a bowl and my Proraso pre/post cream arrived today so I thought I'd give them a try with my preposterously named Wilkinson Sword Protector 3D Diamond, y'know for ol' times sake

The Proraso is minty fresh - very nice sensation before and after some hot towel action. The soap is unscented and whips up to a lovely lather. I can't wait to try some more exotic soaps and creams.

The overall result as close a shave as I've ever experienced with my WS, albeit it a bit more pampering before and after. I generally would shave in the bath or shower

    Colin
