    Thanks all for your input. Joe Lerch, I don't think it was a matter of me not respecting the Feather, but rather simply me being totally ignorant as to the sharpness of these blades. I made the initial post before I had received the actual razor... Two minutes with it out of the box and I QUICKLY realized that against the grain would be an absolute disaster.

    For my first shave with the blade I did two passes. One with the grain, then one against. I got 2-3 nicks (under my nose, in the nape of my neck, and a weird splotch affect on my check), but I also think I was too excited and rushed through it a bit.

    You may want to try going across the grain on your second pass, it's less likely to nick you. When the feather bites me it's usually when I'm going against the grain.
