I've been a daily shaver for most of my shaving life and old habits die hard. As has been said prior to wet shaving it was a daily chore, but since (especially with a straight) it's an indispensable time to relax, and pamper myself. I totally look forward to my daily shave and even though a bit of stubble makes a great shave even greater, I seldom seem to miss days. Once in a blue moon however, I will take a day off usually a Saturday or Sunday, every 5 or 6 months.
The older I get, the better I was

I have a very heavy beard & find that if I'm using a super sharp blade (Jnat finished or the like) I can shave every day w/ no problems. If I use something like a coticule or Norton edge (although perfectly shave ready & capable of giving a very good shave), I do better shaving every other day. For whatever reason, I'm much more likely to get ingrowns & even break out slightly when shaving too often w/ a less refined (but again, perfectly shave-ready) edge. Probably has to do w/ less pressure leading to less skin removal & less irritation.

Just go with what's best for you, I have no problem with skin problems even when I shave twice a day, maybe because I've lived most of my live in the outdoors because of my work and have tough skin.

That's a statement that could hold some truth, I work in an office and have for the last 12 years which i'm sure is at least part of the cause for (un)tough skin.
