Thanked: 2Shoutout to Larry @ Whipped Dog
I bought a sight half seen deal from whipped dog on the recommendations of several forum members.
I was in his neck of the woods for business, so I thought I may be able to drop off my razor for honing and save the cost of shipping the razor to him. I didn't expect to get it honed immediately by any means.
I arranged to go by his home and drop it off. I got there and he invited me, a complete stranger, into his home and instructed me on the finer points of shaving, stropping and using the barber's hone. He even touched up my blade using my barber's hone and taught me how to do it.
All told, he spent over an hour with me, and I can't begin to express how much I appreciated the time he spent with me. He gave me more info and instruction in that hour than I could have hoped to glean on my own in a month.
I will, from now on, do my best to purchase items from and promote www.whippeddog.com whenever I can.
Larry is the very definition of a stand up guy and a prime example of why the straight shaving community is one of the greatest you could hope to be a part of.

Lots of good things I have heard about Larry (including my own purchase). It seems many if not most of the vendors in this niche marketplace go out of their way for the customers. Good on Larry and on all the other vendors who truly do a wonderful job at customer service!

I'll add my voice to this. My Poor Man's strop kit was a great way to get started and I still use the pasted balsa strop he sends along with it, as well as occasionally pulling out the strop to practice my x-stroke technique. It's got some battle scars now, but it still gets the job done.

I bought my first straight razor from Larry, and he was always quick to answer my emails and my questions. He's great, for certain!
