3" Stropping
I just received my 3" strop from straight razor designs and when I tried to use it, I noticed that it would bow in the middle, not allowing the blade to rest on the whole strop. I tried pulling it tight and allowed it to hang loose, with the same results on both. Anyone know how I can alleviate this problem, to allow the whole blade to rest on the strop ?

I'll assume you're impliying there's a part down the middle of the strop (lengthwise) that's not contacting your balde. You can search "cupping" here, and you'll find advice from GENTLY reforming it.. bending it back the other way to lightly wet the strop (or not) and place it between a couple 2x4s with something heavy on top for a day or two to running your palm along it while laying it on something hard to sliding it through the arms of Halle Berry under a full moon.
And you'll get the phrase YMMV.
(Personally, I'd opt for Halle Berry, but she, along with my solid gold Filarmonica, really isn't in the cards.)Last edited by 94Terp; 01-27-2012 at 07:49 PM. Reason: I'm a right daft git.

That's correct, a part right down the middle that's not making contact with the blade. I mean, it's a brand new strop, should it be doing that or do you always have to condition them before stropping ? The leather is really soft, which is why I think it's causing the bow down the middle, preventing the blade from making contact when I pull it tight.

Not at all, it was the 3' Black Latigo Strop from Straight Razor Designs.
