Thanked: 1I'm hooked
Got my starter package yesterday from SRD. Got a Dovo best quality, upgraded to the 3" strop. Got Lynn's DVD. I shaved with a straight for the first time yesterday, I couldn't wait to get up this morning and shave again. Haven't nicked myself yet. Lol. I got the unscented soap, I thought it smelled bad. I put the container in a pot of boiling water until it melted and sprayed some cologne in it as I poured it into my shave mug. It is awesome. Don't know if that's a common practice, but it worked great. Used it this morning and smelled great.
I've always been a blade freak, love custom knives, now I think I found another love. I've been looking at the custom razors, wow. Makes me want to run out in the garage and start working on a razor. Look forward to searching thru the rest of the site and learning some new stuff.
Thanks, Dave

Welcome to the obsession. I've got the same razor. SRD will have given you a tremendously shave ready razor.
Lots of great folks here - lots of great knowledge and experience!

SRD package with a Dovo BQ is what I just started with several weeks ago myself. I also have the unscented soap, and while I have to disagree with you that it smells bad (its unscented! :P) I'm looking forward to using it all up so I can try some of the different soaps out there!
Congrats on not nicking yourself yet- not all of us are so lucky

You don't have to use up all your soap before trying something else. There are several vendors who will sell samples. That's a great way to get some new stuff, and save a little money.

I also got the Dovo special from SRD. Great way to get started. I like the soap, works well, but good idea about adding some scent. I might try that, myself.

Thanked: 1Well, I have to say, I can't wait to shave every morning. I was able to feel which way my hair was growing on my face so I was able to get a good WTG & ATG cut this morning. Man, what a difference than the first couple shaves. I must say thanks to Lynn for a great DVD and sharpening my blade, and thanks to all the others who share their experience for us newbies. I watched alot of videos on YouTube and links off of this site. I really enjoyed Undreams resto videos.
I also have some great Japanese water stones to try out when my razor needs a touch up. They are Naniwa stones. I have used them for my kitchen knives and they seem to work good. If I screw up, I still have a free honing certificate from SRD. Lol. Good luck all !!
Thanks, Dave

I'm really happy with my Dovo Flowing 6/8 I got from SRD; the free honing certificate is quite the bargain. Good luck with your wet shaving endeavors. I'm also hooked myself with a nice dose of RAD going. Cheers!

Thanked: 4Most of us feel the same I guess. I can only wait a few days to save, but until 8 month ago I had a shave once a month with beard trimmer and now become a shaving freak and a straight razor freak too, with no enought time to shave...hone...strop...and reading stuff about SHAVING and RAZORS with LARGE LETTERS!
Don't worry, hundreds of great guys have the same "problem", ask them to help you
