    Default Dovo has arrived!

Got it today, can't wait to shave with it! Loving the red scales. You can really see the extra workmanship compared to the Gold Dollar, really tidy lines and the scales even though also plastic are much nicer, no mold ridges. I'll update on how it shaves in a couple of hours, I'm curious to see if it's better or the same as the GD considering the GD was professionally honed.

Yes, Dovo certainly has arrived. During 106 years of producing quality straight razors for shavers all over the world, Dovo has mastered the craft and arguably reinvented itself in order to continue meeting customer expectations through the years. Gold Dollar has not really arrived yet, in my opinion. However, a professionally honed gold dollar razor may shave much better than a Dovo which has not been

    good luck!

I would shave with your new Dovo to find out how sharp it is. I bought a new Dovo from the art of shaving store, in Chicago's north suburbs, and it is still one of the sharpest blades in my rotation even after eight months. If it isn't shave ready you can have it honed. Enjoy

Yes, it is shave ready, and YES, it is better then the GD. The GD was a perfectly fine shave, much closer then a brand new cartridge ever was but I could feel a difference with the Dovo. Glided much more smoothly and it shaved closer. It was that much better that I probably won't use the GD again lol. I'll use it to practice stropping and honing when the time comes. And here I was blown away by how good of a shave I got off the GD! The Dovo is just better. I'd like to try a GD and a more expensive razor honed by the same person some time just for comparison. Without that I couldn't say for sure that Dovo (or any other brand) is better for shaving. I can say they're better made but that's about it.

You could always use the GD as your travel razor...

Good idea. I'm actually planning an approx 900km hike this summer and a bicycle ride across Canada in the next couple of years. If it rusted up I wouldn't be too upset. Of course by then I'll probably have a bunch of razors to choose from.

Sweet Dovo. I love my Flowing 6/8 I got from SRD last month. They are fine razors when properly honed. Cheers!
