    Default Rust questions

I just ordered my first razor from SRD, a Dovo 6/8 Best Quality along with a SRD Latigo Strop. I got the SRD Camilla Oil to prevent rust, but I also ordered the silicone/oil soaked cotton razor sleeve from The Superior Shave. The owner of the site says he never oils his razors and only uses these sleeves. Have any of you used them or heard how well they work? It sounds great, but I've never seen anyone on this site write about them.

I never heard of them but to my way of thinking why buy his fancy sleeves when just smearing some oil on the razor does the same thing or better.

I'm the worst when it comes to oiling my razors. I pretty much don't, and there was a good stretch recently where they were sitting for a couple months between shaves due to my DE lustings. Pulled them out and didn't notice anything on 'em. At that point, however, I didn't want to take any chances, so I cleaned them up with MAAS and put a nice coating of oil on them and slid them back into their cases.

Don't risk it, just oil the blade. If you've got an oil-soaked sleeve, wouldn't that make a mess on the scales, too?

It would make sense that it would. The guy at The Superior Shave says they are as slick as snot, and you have to be careful not to let your razor slide out of them. I will let you all know how they work when it arrives.

I have never been a big fan of putting steel, be it a knife, razor, or gun, into something to store it, seems that bad things tend to happen that way

Thanks Mick, but you mean there are more types of boogers than have been provided for me than by my 3 year old son? Well I'm so excited, I have another crumb snatcher due in may. Oh such possibilities!
