Thanked: 0I'm now officially a straight razor owner :-)
It finally came! My Hand-Me-Down straight I've been waiting for. It's a Dovo Favorit. That's about all I know. Pretty happy, also came with a Prima Strop.
Need to have to Honed I think before I attempt the jump from my Slim.
I haven't measured the blade yet. Don't know hardly anything about this thing, but I've heard its a good razor.
WOOOO!

Very nice! Once you get it honed, you'll enjoy your shaves with that razor!

Thanked: 0Can anyone guide me where I can work out the value? The Honing sites ask whether it's worth more or less than £46. It's 6/8 I think. Also, is there any way of telling how old it might be?
Thanks

Thanked: 1Nice razor sir, as for the value SRP has a general rule regarding not giving out valuations but if you were to google about the place I'm sure you could get a ballpark figure - Dovo is very well known and regarded so it shouldn't be too hard.
Age circa 1960 according to below:

Currency in pounds would indicate you're east of the Atlantic. One low-cost option would be to contact the guys that used to be on Coticule.be (site is still up). They used to offer free honing, and are generally a great bunch. If you were state-side, I could help.

Very nice picture sir thank you, I hope you enjoy straights has much as I do. Sometimes I think that the hunt is more fun then the kill. Meaning, finding somewhere to get it honed or working it myself, I like to find it a twin, thats good for a few mounths. Then make it a place to rest between shaves (a stand or a bed) that sort of thing, and then..... go find the next one. Fun, Fun, Fun.
