    Default 10 year vaction - I'm baaack!

    OK -

Found my old razor (that was a feat in itself) so out come the hones and the strops and time for the first shave. I must say, that it was kind of like riding a bike. Very smooth shave and very enjoyable. I can't recall why I fell away from it in the first place.

Anyways - a word of encouragement for all the new guys setting out to tray the fine are of wet shaving. ENJOY IT! Don't take anything too seriously. All you need is a good sharp razor and some time. BTW - the videos here on this forum are very good. I encourage everyone to really look around and gather as much knowledge as you can about stropping, shaving techniques, etc. All good stuff.

BUT - the most important thing in my book is remember to have fun!

Good to hear you're back in the game. Any plans on picking up another razor just in case you misplace one again?

    Well...

Oddly enough, I just purchased a vintage razor today for that very reason! LOL Also, probably around summer or so.... I would like to pick up yet another razor I have my eye on. That will give me 3 for my rotation.

I have a fourth, but it is very cheap and should be used as a practice razor for honing, etc. I doubt I'll shave with this one.

Just curious what hones you use, was the norton 4/8 popular for honing 10 years ago?

I am using Norton 4000/8000 hones. Not quite sure what was popular 10 years ago, but these hones seemed to do the job well for me. Moved from them to a pasted strop for polishing and then to leather strop.

Welcome back. 4/8K Norton stones are very popular.
