Having an offday..
I've been shaving straight for about over a month by now, got the hang of it pretty quickly. After 2 weeks I got very decent shaves and after 3 they were smooth!
Today however I managed to nick my nose, my chin and my ear in one shave! Where the chin one is really more of a cut then a nick.. No idea where this came from though, I was relaxed, had my jazz going strong, good prep and uberlather as I always have. Somehow though I now feel like I let an eight year old carve my face with a machete.
Any of you experienced this before? Will spare you the pictures..

I have been shaving with a straight for about a year now and... yes I have experienced this.
The first, second and maybe third and fourth month I did not nick or cut myself, after this time I cut myself every now and then. My only explanation ist that we are still learning. Simple as that.

It's safe to say some days the brain hand connection is amiss. If I realize this I use a DE if I don't that's when the nicks happen.

If I shave off my goatee, I would probably shave my upper lip and around my chin with a DE and do everything else with the SR.
I shaved off my goatee once, I didn't care much for the face looking back at me in the mirror.

Yeah, there will be days when the blood flows, you are using a seriously sharp piece of metal, cuts and nicks will happen even to the most careful of shavers.
Tomorrow is a new day and a new shave

Sometimes the focus is less if it all goes well.
the next time, a better shave. let your face heal and go for it.

Sometimes it doesn't work. Don't sweat it.

Thanked: 30I had an awful one yesterday. I made a terrible lather, so I rinsed everything out and tried again, but by that time I was a little annoyed and my second batch of lather still wasn't great. Got a little burn, but the lather dried my face out pretty badly.
It's funny though. The shave I got last night I would have considered pretty good about 3 or 4 months ago.

Thanked: 1195You can't hit them out of the park every time. Cuts happen, even if you've been doing this for years, decades even.
