Thanked: 0Thanks to everyone for your opinions. Special thanks to Joe Chandler and Tony Miller for supplying me a beautiful razor and strops. I can't wait for them to come in. In the mean time I'm stocking up on styptic and gauze. It was real tough deciding on just one razor--now I understand why people have so many.

On a good note, shaving nicks only form a minority of my styptic uses. You'll be just fine, but to make SURE, here's a couple of tips:
1) Strop slowly and gently. Speed comes naturally with experience and without you noticing it. That way you save both the razor and Tony's strop.
2) No pressure when shaving. If you need to apply pressure, the blade ain't sharp enough and that wouldn't happen with one of Joe's honing jobs.
