    Question Newbies first shave

First allow me to introduce myself. I am a 38 year old soldier who has to shave everyday. Several years ago I got a straight razor shave at a barbershop and have been been trying to get that feeling back ever since. During this past deployment I spent alot of time researching and reading about straight razor shaving and decided to give it a try. This morning was my first time and I have to say it wasn't bad. I have been using a brush and classic style cream for a few weeks now and love that.

I purchased a straight razor that uses replaceable blades for now, once I become proficient and I am able to do a good job I know I will invest in a good razor. What I would like some advice on is what brands of replacement blade are good for a heavy beards? I got half way through this mornings shave and need to replace the blade. I know that as I get better they will last longer, but I also know that there are different qualities of blades. I used Shark this morning.

    Thanks for any advice.
    Dave

There are many good brands and any of them will do for you. With a heavier beard you may notice the size and grind more once you are in the best quality steel range. Go for a larger than 5/8 blade and something less than a full hollow for your optimal action.
