Default My son's first straight razor shave!

After about a month of my son expressing interest in trying str8 razor shaving, he finally did it. He waited for my first restored vintage blades to come from Maxi in Canada (by the way he did a beautiful job on those babies), chose the Torry in ebony scales and went to town.

I was more nervous than he was. As an ex instructor pilot in the AF I seen students coming for landing that make you squirm in the chair, that's the way I felt as he was putting the blade to his face. I knew better than to give to much advice so I tried to keep quit and watch. For the occasional "to much angle," he did the first WTG passes like a pro. He wanted to continue below the jaw line, and he probably would, if it wasn't for my nervous face as he was doing chin, mustache. I think I looked like a kangaroo jumping on the back ground, bitting my tongue! I wanted to tell him "THAT'S ENOUGH you're giving me a heart attack"!

Very proud for his display of confidence he had once he started. It was like he's done it before. The restored Torry, by Maxi here, was cutting his thick beard like bread. Got exited as well and had a shave almost 24 hours after my last shave (which is unusual).

The Torry felt a little smoother than my Dovo inox, but I can tell it was sharper because after three passes I had almost no touchups for an almost BBS (didn't want to push it on my chin). The blade is on the light side which requires a good grip, but that's no problem when a razor is sharp and smooth as that Torry was. Over all very good shave!
