Thanked: 0First Shave Successful!!! Thank you!
The wonderful Dovo wet shaving kit arrived from Straight Razor Designs yesterday. I woke early this morning, pressed an SRO estate coffee from Costa Rica, and set everything up around the sink. I wear a beard so I decided to shave my neck and shape up the beard line on my cheek. I had no problem with the lather, because I'd been using a DE gillette for awhile; however, the badger brush was much superior--at least for my skin--than the boar brush I used to use. Also, the shaving soap sent with the SRD kit was really top-notch. I was careful and slow, shaving first with the grain, then against.
I completed a shave on my first attempt with no razor burn and, more importantly, no cuts. It's not quite as close as I'm used to; however, that will improve with practice. The hardest parts were getting the correct angles, and overcoming the blind spots. The scritch-scritch of the razor cutting beard hair was zenlike and meditative.
So, for everyone on this site, for Lynn Abrams's videos and article for beginners, and for SRD...THANK YOU.

Thanked: 0Definitely, I've been rubbing my neck, tempted to go again tonight. Will wait until the morning, though.
