Thanked: 0Anyone got a razor for a newb?
I'm really looking forward to trying out a straight razor. I've read as much as I can on the subject int he past few days and went to a local knife shop to see what they had. The cheapest razor they had was $60, and a strop for $40, which at this point in time is way too much money for me. I don't know of any old-school barbers around here though I'm keeping my eyes peeled for garage sales.
If anyone here has a razor, strop, etc they'd be willing to part with relatively cheap <$20 or so I'd be interested. By the way I'm in Savannah, GA, in case any of you know a good place to go to find one around here.
I was looking on ebay and sometimes I thought I found a decent one, but being a newb and trying to determine quality from ebay pictures is pretty tough.
Thanks!

Check www.billysblades.com or http://shop.writerferret.com/ Those sites are owned by SRP members and have some good deals, probably not less than $20.00 though. You may want to create a post in the buy sell trade forum as well.

Thanked: 4942Shoot me your name and address in a PM and I'll send you a razor to get you started at no cost to you. The only thing I ask, is that you pass it on to another new person when you are able to afford a better razor.
Have fun.

Hi Lynn,
My address is
156 Q...
Ooops, wrong window
Looks like Lynn went one up on Joe and I don't think you'll do any better unless someone pays you to take one of his razors

Well, you can't beat an offer like that.
Now check out www.thewellshavedgentleman.com
for one of Tony's strops.
