Thanked: 3Complete newbie success story
I have been fascinated with straight razors ever since I was a child watching my granddad shave with his fathers straight. 3 weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and go from the generic cartridge razor directly to a straight. I poured over all the information I could and watched countless videos while I should have been working. I was addicted before I had even laid steel to skin. I was looking at several razors and kits to purchase when my wonderful girlfriend beat me to the punch and bought me a shave ready dovo razor with strop, bowl, cream and brush for my birthday.
I gleefully prepared for my first shave. I had a complete kit from AoS and began to strop my razor as my brush soaked. The lather felt absolutely amazing compared to the canned gel I was used to. I placed blade to skin and just went for it. My research and my memories of my grandfather must have guided me since I completed 3 passes without a single nick or any burn at all. And best of all, my face was smoother than I have ever been able to get with a cartridge razor.
I just wanted to share my story and thank everyone of you here that helped me on starting this new journey.
