    Default 3rd shave, No blood!!

So, I took my razor to get honed. First, I thought it didnt make a real difference..lots of tugging and pulling. Then I closed my angle and it made a HUGE difference. Still not as proficient as I would like, but I am seeing some improvement. One thing that I have noticed is that my lather is drying up before I can get to my whole face. Am I not having enough water in the brush when I lather up?

No blood is always a good thing

About the lather. If its the right consistency when you apply it, you have the mixture right and its probably just that you're slow in shaving (don't rush, the speed will come on its own)

Assuming you like the lather consistency, you might want to lather up one side of your face completely and the other less. After you're done shaving the first side, just wet your brush again and build up a good lather on the side that still needs to be shaved. Its slower, but your skin will thank you with less irritation.

You only have 3 shaves to your credit right now. Relax, be a little patient and enjoy the learning curve. You'll be a pro in no time.

Try lathering one side at a time. I am still slow enough to have soap flakes rather than lather on occasion even when I make the lather wetter than usual.

Well, the lathering is getting better. I usually shave after a hot shower, put on my pre shave oil, saok a small towel in steaming hot water, let it set for a minute, then lather up. I am pretty happy with the way most of my face feels, I have only had one cut so far(a nick or two that didnt really bleed) The biggest problem I am having is my lower neck. The grain pattern is going towards the back of my neck. I try going down from my jaw, lathering again and going up...cant really find the right grip to go with the grain. Still adjusting my grip and lather...but any suggestions would be welcomed!

I am with you 100%. Shaving the neck is nearly impossible. I think the hair goes in 5 different directions there. If anyone has good info regarding the neck area let me know. I can grow a pretty mean neck beard.

Congrats on a blood-free shave! That's a great feeling when you can skip first aid rituals post-shave.
