    Default Second sahve!

    Hello again

After a sketchy first shave and 4 days to recover, I tried again. This time with much better results. I reread a few fundamentals since last time and found that they made an improvement.

First, I read and practiced how to make better lather. I never really gave much thought to it as it seems so basic, but realized that I was making my lather way too wet. I improved my technique, less water less soap, more brush action and there you go. So simple but big improvement. I made the lather on my face and think I could get even better results with a bowl and more practice.

Second I really focused on stretching the skin more than I had before. This made a big improvement in the tugging area.

Third... RESTRAINT! I used every bit of restraint to quit while I was ahead. I got both cheeks and a bit of chin WTG and stopped! Very minimal nicks. I got just as many nicks with my disposable that I used to finish.

So there you go. there is hope after all.

    Andrew

Great. Sounds like you're making progress. The only thing I'd suggest... Don't become over confident. (I did). Just progress a little at a time. And if you do start to falter, cutting yourself , don't think 'oh my fault and keep going.! Stop, regroup, and start again the next day. (I didn't . That when my wife advised that I didn't do that again unless some one was at home to call for help for me).

Tugging relates to razor sharpness, stropping technique, as well as angle of attack. Beard density also plays apart which could mean you need to shave in layers. You will find the proper angle with your razor makes as much difference as nearly any other factor save for sharpness.

Congratulations on your perseverance and your restraint. You are doing well and really it does just keep getting better. There have a been a few minor setbacks for me along the way but they serve to intrigue and inspire the search for solutions. I regret I have but one face to shave.
