I've been wet shaving for the past year with the exception of a couple cold Chicago months. I always prep my beard with CF pre shave, and a hot towel from the microwave (showers make me sleepy). I first started with a Dovo Micarta, and AOS lavender cream. Beautiful razor, but I didn't like the big handle. I then purchased a Dovo Pearlex, and was having a little more success with it, but was still not getting very good shaves. So I decided to go vintage, and purchased a Puma #39 6/8. I was getting much better shaves, but not completely satisfied. Now I'm aware me being new could have a lot to do with the quality of shaves I'm getting, and I've watched endless videos on stropping, shaving, lather, etc.. My Dovo's were purchased from one of our vendors so sharpness is unquestioned. In my search for a better shave I bought Xpec cream, and again a little improvement. So I bought into the Filarmonica hype, and bought a C-mon double temple. So tonight I shaved with Filarmonica, and used the poraso pre shave I recently got. IT WAS THE BEST!!!! Still having a little bit of a hard time with my neck, but so much better. My long winded question is what happened? Would the Filly make that much of a difference? The poraso pre shave? And, what do I do with all these razors?
