Wow, Glen, if work gets slow this afternoon (heck, anytime over the next month), I have plenty of reading material. Thanks a bunch!

So, the real lesson here is check the wiki and the search tool is your friend?
I see what you did there....

Thanks for putting these in one place, Glen... is the word "sticky" being mentioned?
Cheers

Thanked: 33I know I went back to all of these that I could, and I totally broke the March tips as I hadn't yet discovered this wealth of information. However, I did take the shaving part slowly from advice given me by Moosiker. I can't wait to delve into the others that weren't available Pre September 2011 I think. Thanked: 13245Yep that list started when we re-vamped the front page, and these "Tips" predate that
If there is a pic attached it was on the front page, as the Dev guys asked for that, so it looks better as you sign in and we have pics there if there is no pic attached then it was pre-front page and therefore not on the easily found list...
I still can't find July and Aug 2011

Thanked: 33Luckily I had a little time... I just read every one that was listed... Sorry Glen, ran three different iterations on Google and couldn't figure out July/August either. But I must say these are really great and helpful, and I am very glad that you have put them up for all to read and absorb.
Unfortunately I delved in before I knew what I was doing and I bought two razors on ebay before I even joined this site. One was a dud, one was a gem. I was lucky, from there I found through a google search what i needed to look for in buying a razor. (I am pretty sure it came from here, and probably you, it looked an awful lot like the picture you have up on restoring blades.) But after that I really started collecting blades, and had a local guy sharpening the razors. After he had honed two blades up for me he said that it would be cheaper if he took the time to show me how to both hone and strop the blades. Since then I have spent almost every evening cleaning up and honing all of my crazy ebay purchases. Only three have been beyond clean up necessity and in need of a full restore. I am really lucky to get to rotate out 12 blades and have another 5 that I can spend the next weekend working on.
Your information has really helped me out, even if I haven't followed your advice exactly, I have in retrospect fixed several things and thanks to you and a couple other friends, I have lots of razors that give me a CCS. And you are right as far as the HHT and those other subjective tests go, they really don't tell you much until you shave (I have no problem with HHT, my head hair just slices I guess, it's strange how different a beard can be as it's nigh impossible to cut)! I always use the shave test, and some pass some don't and we go back to the old grindstone!
Thanks for all of the hard work you have put into this I am sure it helps a lot of people. This is now more of an obsession than a hobby for me and I couldn't be happier!
