Thanked: 0help for a beginner ? RE: j.w Meeson & sons, sheffield
RE: i recently bought my first straight razor and was wondering if anyone could help provide a bit of history/ background on it,
on the shank it says " j.w Meeson & sons Sheffield" i bought it off ebay for around £9.00 (p&p) included.
the razor has some cosmetic damage as its quite old i gather also the blade needs honing and was wondering if anyone knew of any hone-masters around the Manchester (uk) area?
any help or infomation regarding this matter would be massively appreciated.
if anymore images are required just let me know.
jason.

Welcome to SRP!
check the member introduction forum and you will find some links to UK based honing and restoration services. from those pictures the blade looks ok but i have been fooled by pictures before. the scales though... the split near the toe pin... no big deal... but is that a crack further up?
i know nothing about the maker but I'm sure , Neil, Manah or Martin will be along soon to puzzle it out for you.
enjoy,
jim
