Thread: First Straight Shave

It takes a few shaves to start getting the hang of it. I watched Lynn's DVD several times before I started and I still ended up looking like I'd gone through a plate glass window for a couple of weeks, I had the idea that I'd be getting great shaves from day 1 - which didn't happen.
But it does get better. You start to get less nicks and razorburn and then one day you realise you're getting pretty good shaves. I can now get a shave without cuts most days (touch wood) and it's closer and more comfortable than I ever got with a DE or with a Mach3.

Thanked: 0thanks for the encouragement, Iwan. I'm sure you're right, and I'm willing to go along and learn the technique.

I should have added, I started with a spike point and a lot of my cuts were due to not keeping close enough watch on where the point was at all times. A roundpoint is a little safer to learn with, but I'm glad I learned on a spike as it means I got that out of the way early on.
