Default Bought a razor - need info!

I bought this razor for a couple bucks just because I thought it would be cool to use a straight razor, but I don't think it's even close to being sharp enough. It says "Joseph Rodgers & Sons Cutlers To Their Majesties ___ Norfolk Street Sheffield" On the blade, and has a wooden handle but is in bad shape and barely together. Also the blade has some rust on it. Did I make a good buy? How old is it? And how should I get it up and running? Thanks!

I cant help you with how old it is but you do have a fine razor there It'll be a great shaver once it's cleaned up and honed properly. Unless you want to attempt it yourself I'd send it out to have it rescaled and restored. You can check the classifieds under member services or browse through the Custom Restoration threads and find someone whos work you like. Also welcome to SRP

I have a Joseph Rogers and sons set in bone with about that same shape and it turned into a fine razor.
Your's is in need of work but from the limited views looks like it's in decent shape and could be a keeper.

Welcome to SRP. Check out the Wiki it is full of information and there is a razor data base as well.
