Welcome to SRP Matt. Quite the introduction.
I understand where you're coming from as far as jumping into the deep end of the pool with regards to all things wet shaving related. Yes, many members here do recommend learning this before trying that. With experience comes wisdom and we do have a new shavers best interest in mind. It can be frustrating to try and learn everything at once for some people. Maybe an unintended consequence of the advice many members give here is to protect your wallet. This hobby/addiction can add up very very quickly. It's a shame when someone invests alot of money into gear only to get frustrated and give up. Once upon a time there was a new member here who thought the way you do, rushed out and bought a few razors, strops, hones, soaps/creams and tried to learn everything at once. Within a few weeks or so. he got frustrated with all the aspects and ended up selling all of his gear in the classifieds. If I had been quicker on the keyboard, I would have bought his stuff in a heartbeat because it was a steal. He lost a bundle. So some friendly advice would be just dip your toes in the water before diving headfirst.

Thanked: 1Oh man sorry to hear that. It is a shame that people become discouraged so easilly with wet shaving. Its a great hobby, but yeah you are right it can become very costly very quickly. I think its great what you guys do on hear and I'm looking forward to talking more with you as I get frustrated with the way I do things. I'm sure i'll be back saying i've had it with honing or can't seem to do something right. Either way it will be fun.
