    Default Lurking

Hello. My name is Eddie. I am 29 years old, active duty military and married to an active duty military (talk about an interesting life style!)

So I've been frequenting the site here for awhile lurking in the background and reading posts. I have been straight razor shaving for about 2 months now and love every minute of it. I have read way more "noobie" posts than I care to imagine and I hope this isn't as such.

I haven't even begun to dabble into honing yet and don't plan on it any time soon. I have grown up my whole life honing my pocket knives and I am pretty good at it, but still, I don't want to lose the passion I have for shaving over something as silly as that.

The only question I have, and I'm aware that there is not a right or wrong answer, is this: I found some aftershave balm at Target called "Everyman Jack". They have a few different products and at less than $6 for a 4.2oz bottle, I am very impressed. face lotion | signature mint - Every Man Jack I love the product and it does everything I expect it to. Now, since I am a "noobie", maybe I'm missing out on something. Maybe there are better products but I have blinders on because this is my first one. In other products and aspects of life, I find that the first one I find that I like, I always go back to it after trying other products (often more expensive items at that). So, has anybody else tried this aftershave balm and if so, how do you think it compares? Thanks in advance.

    Eddie

Welcome to SRP. I have tried the unscented "Everyman Jack" aftershave lotion and I thought it was ok. I can't really recommend any other aftershave lotions to try as I typically don't use any. I just splash on aftershave, either Clubman Pinaud, some version of bayrum, or Old Spice and out the door I go. But for $6, you can't go wrong.

Welcome aboard. I have a similar pattern of comparing the new with the first. When it comes to shave products there is a lot to compare which is why you see so many of us have "rotations". Aftershave is really a YMMV item so if you like it then it must be good. It is intriguing to find the low cost great products which hold their own with the high cost esoteric but what is best for me is frequently what I just used. I still think Pinaud and Canoe are luxury items but Aramis jumps in on occasion.

    It just keeps getting better.

Thanks for the info. I went to amazon.com and added a few of those y'all mentioned to my wishlist.

I have been seeing the Everyman Jack in stores, but didnt try it yet. I dont have a whole lot of uses for balms, I typically only use them when I have a bad shave. I am a pinaud man mostly, but my interests are peaked now and I may need to get some to try.
