    Default Hello

    Hello All,

I am in my late 20's. Up until a few months ago I was shaving with multi-cartridge razors. Needless to say, I hated shaving, absolutely-positively hated shaving. One thing I hated more than shaving was, shaving and NOT getting the BBS feeling. Of course, this meant ATG passes, and being that my skin is more on the sensitive side, it would not always look pretty. Razor burn, nicks, cuts, bumps, you name it.

Fast forward to march of this year, I stumbled upon Wet-shaving on the "internets". Oddly enough, it was my loathe for multi-cartridge razors that got me to this point. One day I went on google and search "How to keep razors sharp", this ultimately lead to boat-loads of information on Straight Razors & Wet-shaving. That is how I truly discovered Wet-shaving.

First thing I did was ordered the VH set, Merkur Long Handle (came with merkur blades). First shave...cheap brush, cheap soap, no good idea how to lather soap & prep beard...None of that matters as I was hooked from the first shave and knew from then on that I would never again shave with a multi-cartridge razor again.

I have been shaving with a Safety razor for last few months now (use Merkur Progress now), but I eventually want to graduate to shaving with a straight razor. I just ordered my first straight razor from vintage blades llc (cheapest Dovo they have). My birthday is in July, so I am hoping by then that I can get a better sense of what i like/dont like by that time because I have already told the wifey I want a shiny (nice looking, more expensive) straight razor.

I have been a lurker for a couple months now, and continue to enjoy all the knowledge I am getting here. I probably won't be actively posting in the future, but know that I appreciate the great work this site and its members have done.

    Cheers.
