5th shave was a sad shave
the shave itself was ok. the blade doesnt feel as sharp as the first but i equal that to my noob stropping and very bad quality strop. really cannot wait until the new one arrives. with my previous shaves I have been trying to work out the best way to remove the lather from the blade. tried wiping it with a towel but was worried that I might hurt the edge, also tried swishing it (carefully) in water in the sink and also by running it under water. today I was running it under the water.
(some of you are most likely already cringing as what has most likely happened)
well yes, it did happen!! just as i was rinsing the last bit of lather from the blade after completing my shave, I hit the tap!!! on top of that because I was bringing the razor up to inspect it as I was turning off the tap, it hit the tap right on the side of the very edge of the blade near the heal and slid along the edge for a fraction of a second making me almost collapse with the shared pain of my razor.
the end result, two very slight chips in the edge
looks like a re-hone

I gentlely wipe mine on a moistened sponge. Something to think about.

Thanked: 1second the sponge! i keep my razor out of the water until the very end, when it gets a quick dip to get the lather off... and then thoroughly dried and stropped.

I did that too. It happens. I stopped using the faucet for awhile after that incident. Now I just try to remember to point the spine towards the running water and angle the razor to let the water flow over the blade.

I wipe the blade with my finger then rinse my finger. Never cut my finger yet!
I'll hone the blade free if you need me to. Pm me.

I did the exact thing too a few years ago. It somehow feels better to know you aren't the only one...
I still use water running slowly into the sink to rinse the blade. This is mostly due to a complete lack of counter space on which to perch a sponge or towel or similar. However, after having nicked an edge that first time, I now find myself being extremely (!) careful of the edge and have not come close since.
The good news is that it honed out beautifully and I was able to chalk up another wet shaving learning experience.

Oh heck, that's not too bad. OK, it's not *good* but compared to the chunk I took out of mine, I think you can be confident that it will hone out nicely.

That's not too bad, a rehone will fix
I rinse mine under running water and also wipe on a towel... I just need to remember to be careful to keep the spine pointed at the faucet

G'Day Nick.
The damage doesn't look too bad.
I have always just 'swished' the blade in the sink to remove the lather.
The one thing I make sure of is the the spine is the only part that can make contact with the sink ie. upside down (so to speak).
