Thanked: 0Ok. 2nd shave. Didn't use pre-shave and made sure the lather was really wet. I see now how a little goes a long way with enough hot water. This shave was with a different razor but it was smooth as butter this time. I got one nick on my upper lip because I tried to shave between my lip and the bottom of my mustache. Otherwise, this was a little quicker than the first and still as close. Still getting cramps in my hands sometimes because of how I hold the razor and the angle.

Thanked: 443Hi Walril,
That was great advice from Pinklather about how to monitor your lather; I'll start watching that too. Sometimes I rinse away the old lather I haven't gotten to yet, and relather fresh. It's not like I'm wasting any... there's always plenty that goes down the drain when I'm done.
Cramps in your hands sounds odd... relax!
With a shaving sharp razor, you shouldn't need any more force to remove hair than you need to remove lather. If you go back to your first razor tomorrow and it doesn't feel as smooth as your second one did, maybe it's not shaving sharp.
That bit between your mustache and upper lip sounds like a tricky bit of work; glad I don't have to do such a thing.
Best wishes and happy shaving.
