I'm going to try again, I just ordered Stainless Steel Mirror Finished Scales. Now I've got to read up on how to replace the scales myself. Thanks to all of you for your support.

Good to hear you have some new scales on the way, that should solve your problem . I have no clue how you change them though, as I'm just getting started into the hobby myself. Custom scales sounds interesting though!

Thanked: 13247Sometimes rushing into things costs..
The SS scales are terribly heavy and very off balance, in fact so bad I have probably 3-4 sets here that I have changed for people and I would gladly give you a set..
I would also offer to change them for you, for free if you cover shipping, as I can't honestly remember which SS scales belong to the Dovo's the TI's and the Wapi's I have changed them all..
My best advice is as always "Slow Down" with this hobby, if you could have waited at least a couple of hours if not 1 day for the membership to read your post you you would have been farther ahead...
Also something to note, unless you are very careful changing scales you can mess up the edge again even doing it all right, let alone doing them wrong...Last edited by gssixgun; 07-02-2012 at 05:30 PM.

Hey Alewine, I live in west palm beach fl, send me a pm if you would like to get together for some stropping lessons.
I've been shaving with a straight for about 8 month now and I'm enjoying every shave. Like everyone has said, stick with it and you be rewarded with excellent shave that give you a certain satisfaction others shave's, including the safety razor shave, don't give you. And they don't take that long like at the beginning. Which is sometimes a drag, since most of the times, you want it to last longer. Double O

I think in my case the SS scales may be my best bet. My hands measure from tip of middle finger to wrist 9 inches and with hand wide open from tip of thumb to tip of little finger 11 1/2 inches. So I need some weight in my hand to feel comfortable, and something strong that I can handle safely.

Lynn,
I thank you very much for your offer. You replaced the first scales for free, for which I'm very thankful. I would like to take you up on your offer. But, you should not have to do it for free or pay for postage. I think you have my email address please let me know how much you would charge, and I will send payment along with postage.
Again, Thank You
