Thanked: 2Got my razor and had my first shave
I have now had all of my shaving equipment for my birthday and had my first straight razor shave.
I think I did ok as I managed to shave both sides of my face, under my chin and neck . Finished off the tricky areas with a DE.
I drew my first blood with the straight razor on my neck but didn't really break the skin as I stopped dead when I felt something was not right. I realised where I went wrong as I allowed the skin to get slack and the blade started to dig in. Strangely enough I gave myself a far worse nick with the DE on the chin.
Got to say although it took a lot of concentration, I enjoyed the experience and am looking forward to my next shave and improving my skills over time.
The hardest part I found is that I have no experience of how a straight razor feels on the skin as I have never had a professional shave.
Straight razors are very cool.

Good job on the first shave... it gets better from here, usually.
Little to no pressure, short strokes, and watch the angle... you should be good to go.- Jeremy -
A year from now, you'll wish you had started today.
